...and I Continue

My Blackness confirms my greatness,
From the moment I step into a room,
Their minds are consumed,
Who is he, what does he want,
There in lies the confusion,
Their question should be,
Who are we and how can we be more like thee,
The brother's cool, even in the face of adversity,
His lines of lineage flows from the north of the nile,
Spreading across the seas,
...and you digress...who is he?

Ancestral gifts reside in me,
I am the spawn of the rebel blood of Nefertiti,
I am the remnant of great genius, IMHOTEP.

True history tells my story,
I am the symbolic victim of the Greco-Roman invasion,
I am the Kunta weeping for his displaced raped wife.

Through it all I have not forgot,
Your wonder is not about who I am,
Your wonder is in fact astonishment,
My resilience is illogical,
But I am, and I continue.
