Given gifts to share,
Times to connect,
Yet, we sleep.
Rivers of passion flow within,
Unforgettable moments await us,
And we sleep.
Sometimes it's fear that stops us,
Sometimes we are the only stumbling block,
Afraid of our shine, afraid others will see,
...and expect the same brilliance over, and over.
So we sleep.
We are angry when folks don't pay enough attention,
Shutting down our shine,
And we are fearful when they pay too much attention,
Shutting down our shine,
We sleep.
We hope that someone else will dream our dream,
Live our passions and forge change,
We rather celebrate silently,
...as our dreams unfold in displaced hands.
We Sleep
What if waves stopped mid-crest,
What if the sun twinkled instead,
What if stars fell from their place,
Would we be as powerful as the waves, the sun...
...if we didn't sleep?
